COMANDANCIA DE OPERACIONES GUARDACOSTAS (COMOPERGUARD)

Our contemporary coastguard units keep a common thread with men and ships that constitute history on which the Directorate General of Captaincy and Coast Guard develops activities that will later be part of the naval tradition.

In its three core areas of activity, the Navy entrusts the National Maritime Authority with the operation, maintenance and logistics of maritime patrol boats, harbor patrols and bay control sliders as well as Fokker F-27 aircraft operating in The Sea of Grau. In the Amazon river patrol boats, riverside interdiction boats, slippers in various conceptions and Twin Otter hydroplanes fulfill a complex mission under the control of the Fluvial Captaincies. In the highest navigable lake in the world the Buno Puno, lake patrol boats and units on land and islands also operate under the jurisdiction of the Lake Captaincy of Puno.

Arduous and unique is the mission that our Coast Guard men and women play throughout the national heritage, the Sea of Grau, many Amazonian rivers, the highest navigable lake in the world, lakes and lagoons, The geographic environments that distinguish Peru and that frame environmental systems that are patrimony of the humanity. It can be said and must be repeated that there is hardly any parallel in the world to what is represented by the broad spectrum of this reality, the scope of work of the Peruvian coastguards.
