The Commander of the Third Naval Zone is headquartered in the city of Arequipa. It was created by Supreme Decree No. 01 dated January 10, 1962, starting its activities in the year 1975 in the premises of the headquarters Mariano Bustamante Peruvian Army, located in the district of Mariano Melgar, named Theatre South Operations, at command of Admiral Luis Bianchi Infantes.
Later in 1980, by decision of the High Command Naval moves to its own premises located on the street Juan Manuel Polar 111 - Vallecito of Fencing city of Arequipa, being appointed as Commander of the Third Naval Zone under the command of Rear Admiral Ciro Saravia Hudson.
This Area Command's mission is to plan, organize, conduct and evaluate the development of operations assigned units and activities to provide logistical support and security to the units and departments in the area of its jurisdiction, in order to help ensure compliance with policies, plans and policies General Operations Command Pacific and South Operational Command.
